There is no real reasoning given for any of the events and no detail unless designed to invoke pity for the author. One day, she is likened to the Brady Bunch mother, she is the queen of mothers, she is the greatest thing since mothers started mothering – the next page, she is feeding Pelzer a dirty diaper.

Maybe that’s only because the writing is some of the worst, cliched stuff I’ve ever seen in print. I don’t really get why my teacher read this to my class. While this is a hard book to read, it is also very inspiring.

Pelzer weaves a horrifying tale of abuse, neglect, and torture he undergoes as a child at the hands of his psychotic mother. It’s too close torture porn for me. I hope that anybody who has gone through it, find this book as a testimony that it is possible to succeed in the midst of tribulation with no compare.
